Fox Hollow Golf Course features 27 championship holes with three very different nine hole layouts.  The coures is consistently ranked among the best in Colorado and is one of the most popular public courses in Colorado.  (Click on the photo to enlarge)  Designed by Dennis Griffiths, it was built inside Bear Creek State Park along Morrison Road. The 27 hole Fox Hollow and the 18 hole short course at The Homestead were created for Lakewood and Jefferson County golfers.    Three separate nines are known as Canyon, Meadow and Links. Play is rotated among the nines under a plan that allows maximum utilization. Nine-hole play is possible in the morning and after 2:30 p.m.  Canyon is the most popular nine since it has lots of elevated tee boxes and water. The best known hole (pictured here) is #5, a 445 yard, par four. It requires a drive from an elevated tee box over the canyon to a small landing area. The second shot is back across the narrow canyon to the green.  The Meadow nine has water on most holes as well as a waterfall feature. The Links runs to the highest point of the course but has few trees. The rolling fairways, larger greens and more bunkers to add to the difficulty. Tee times can be made seven days in advance by Jefferson County residents and six days in advance by non-residents. 13410 West Morrison Road (West of Kipling) 303-986-7888

The championship short course is 5,100 yards and plays to a par 65.  Golfers experience a 200 foot drop in elevation that goes from a deep bowl to high vistas and panoramic views of Red Rocks to the west, the Denver skyline to the east, Pikes Peak to the south and Longs Peak to the north. (Click on the photo to enlarge)   Built at a cost of $7 million it was originally designed for beginners, seniors, juniors and higher handicap players. Its 170 acres along the West Hampden Frontage Road also parallels U.S. Highway 285. The terrain lends itself to links style golf with numerous bunkers and large greens. It is not a flat course however. The highest point on the new course is 200 feet higher than the highest point on the Links Nine at Fox Hollow. Fox Hollow's original architect Denis Griffiths designed the layout of eight par 3 holes, nine par 4's and one par 5. The new course allows players to finish a round in 3 1/2 hours.Tee times can be made seven days in advance by Jefferson County residents and six days in advance by non-residents. 11500 West Hampden Avenue (Frontage Road off South Kipling)  720-963- 5181.
